We are here to support you and your family

PLANNING a loved one's FUNERAL

When a close friend or family member has died, there can be a lot to think about. We are here to make the planning of a funeral as easy as possible. We will help devise a personalised service and offer you and your family pastoral support.

Our Director of Music is also here to help provide a personal touch to the service.

Planning your own Funeral

It is never too early to make plans for your own funeral service. While it is not not an easy conversation to have with a friend or relative, it can bring peace of mind. We are available to talk through the various aspects of your funeral service, from the music to the flowers, as well as any reception you might want at St John’s. We will also talk through any pastoral concerns, including care in your days and the immediate implications of death and bereavement.

It is an option to have a reception in church after the service. This could be a large event like a funeral tea with outside caterers, or a smaller affair. For example, we have had a simple arrangement of fish and chips with champagne.

To contact us about a funeral, please call the parish office for immediate assistance, or come on a Sunday and talk to a member of the clergy.

All Souls

We mark a service for the Feast of All Souls each year on or around November 2nd. During this Eucharistic service, we remember by name all those with whom we have been involved with their funeral in recent years, among other memorials. Those present are invited to light a candle on the altar in memory of their loved ones. If you would like to remember a loved one during the service, please contact the office in October.
